1. Name the object that touched the face

A peptide INCI on a label is not the whole formula. Purchased peptide raw materials are usually aqueous or glycol-rich. The jar next to them may be 20% emollient. If congestion appeared after a rich night cream that also lists a peptide, start with the fatty phase and the film, not with a moral panic about amino-acid chains. Write the full INCI. Circle oils, butters, waxes, silicones, and fragrance. Then look at the peptide line.

2. Most leave-on cosmetic peptides are not classic pore-clogging lipids

Comedogenicity folklore was built around oils, esters and occlusive films, often from old rabbit-ear work that does not map cleanly onto a modern face. A water-based Argireline concentrate is a hydrophilic solution. That does not make it “non-comedogenic” as a slogan — solutions still carry solvents and preservatives some people cannot tolerate — but it does mean you should not paste a coconut-oil reputation onto Acetyl Hexapeptide-8. Do not publish a class-wide pore score for “peptides.”

What buyers say

Buyer experience with this exact Mylo-Opt product. Educational content stays primary — this is not scientific proof.

  • First time trying squalane and I was honestly impressed. Used it without massage so far, just instead of cream after washing my face. Moisturizes well and soaks in pretty fast. Perfect for winter — radiators dry my skin at home and it's freezing outside. No dryness or flaking after using it. Super economical too. I'll try it with a gua sha massage sometime.

3. The usual suspects live in the base

Rich esters, butters, and some occlusive silicones can feel great and still sit heavily on acne-prone areas. Cosmetic squalane is often better tolerated than a random plant butter, and still is not a promise for every face. Base oils and butters are a category of sensory tools, not a peptide side effect. A lightweight gel with a peptide and a heavy balm with the same peptide are different experiments. If you change only the peptide and keep a waxy cream, you have not tested the molecule.

4. Sting, closed comedones and inflammatory acne are not one word

Tightness and flakes can be irritation or a drying gel. New closed comedones along the hairline after a rich cream point at occlusion and residue. Painful inflammatory lesions are a reason to stop the product, not to “purge through a peptide.” Cosmetic peptides are not a licensed purge protocol. If fragrance or essential oil is in the chassis, test a bland version before blaming the sequence.

5. This is not the copper-uglies article

MO-LAB already has a separate page on the 2026 nickname “copper uglies” for topical GHK-Cu. That conversation is vehicle, irritation, and internet mixing of creams with injection lore. This page is the general clog-pores question for peptide products as a class. Do not merge them. If the only peptide in the formula is GHK-Cu and the complaint is colour plus folklore, read that article. If the complaint is “any peptide cream gave me bumps,” stay here and take the base apart.

6. A workshop test that does not invent a pore ranking

Keep the peptide file constant. Make a water-light gel and a richer cream. Same use level of the commercial peptide material, same preservation logic appropriate to each chassis, no extra fragrance. If congestion tracks the cream, you learned about the fatty phase. Face-cream emulsifiers and waxes are part of that phase. If both bother the same person, look at the peptide solution’s solvents and preservative, or at the person’s skin, not at a viral table that scored “peptides: 2/5.”

7. When to stop, and what not to claim

Stop for spreading inflammation, cysts, hives, or anything that looks like allergy. Do not tell anyone to push through. On pack, avoid “non-comedogenic” unless you have a method you will defend; avoid “peptides unclog pores” as a class claim. The honest line is: this formula’s lipid load, this film, this person’s history. The peptide molecule is a suspect only after the chassis has been questioned.
